Mathilda Mai is a fine artist, born in the South of France and now working from her studio by the seaside in Margate. Coming from a family of female artists, including her sister, mother, and grandmother, whose creativity inspires her own artistic voice. Mathilda’s folk-style art reflects a love for colour and the natural world, with a western twist. Drawing from her memories of the countryside, she uses a palette of earthy tones and bold mark making. Mathilda plays with traditional techniques with a contemporary approach, resulting in dynamic recognisable artworks.

With well received exhibitions around the UK, alongside a successful debut at the Art Fair Battersea in March. Notably, her work was selected for three feature walls, including the main curated exhibit for International Women’s Day.

Mathilda is passionate to create stand out pieces that spark joy and the love for colour.
